Giordano Jazz!

Students from TDAC had the wonderful opportunity of attending the Giordano Jazz Workshop in Chicago IL this past weekend.
The three days full of dancing, sight seeing, and eating were such a great opportunity for the students to experience.

Students took Giordano technique, style, and rep classes from Nan Giordano herself. Nan is the daughter of legendary Gus Giordano. Other great classes including the most amazing floor barre class, latin ballroom, ballet for jazz dancers, and more rep. On top of dancing, we got to see local dance schools, as well a,s the Giordano company perform in studio. The upbeat energy at Giordano was overwhelming. The company and all the staff were incredibly welcoming.

In our off time, students experience The Body Works at the Museum of Science and Industry, ate deep dish Chicago style pizza, and had a lot of great laughs!

Next year they will continue the Jazz World Congress, and we are looking forward to experiencing that amazing conference.

In the mean time, we have some more events and conferences coming up.
For sure keep October 15 & 16th marked on your calendar for Tennessee Association of Dance's annual Conference.

Congratulations

We are so proud of all our students from the little baby elephants of Mommy and Me to the leads of La Fille mal gardee.. We had an amazing season and ended with three wonderful productions.

There are so many people to thank and acknowledge for the success of this season! We hope that you were able to attend one of our shows and read through all the wonderful names. As always, we want to thank the parents, our dedicated students, the amazingly talented faculty of TDAC, the staff, and all the volunteers.

Though this is a business, it is my passion and my ministry. I come to work each day to help inspire and motivate students to find the joy of dance. I know that my faculty feels the same. We are so pleased to share our knowledge and the talents that we have been given with the youth of the Spring Hill Community.

I hope that you support us in our endeavors and our great plans! Remember that we do all we can to provide a high quality service at a low affordable price. Thank you!

La Fille mal gardee

We are wrapping up our 2010-2011 Ballet Season with a wonderful production called, " La Fille mal gardee". This title literally translates into the Wayward Daughter. It is a comic ballet presented in two acts, inspired by Pierre-Antoine Baudouin's 1789 painting, La réprimande/Une jeune fille querellée par sa mère. The ballet was originally produced and choreographed by the Ballet Master, Jean Dauberval, to a musical pastiche adapted from fifty-five popular French airs by an unknown hand. The ballet was first presented under the title Le ballet de la paille, ou Il n’est qu’un pas du mal au bien (The Ballet of Straw, or There is Only One Step from Bad to Good) at the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux, in Bordeaux, France on Wednesday, July 1st, 1789.

Tennessee Dance Arts Conservatory will present this work, choreographed by Ballet Mistress, Chelsea Howell, this Saturday May 14th at 7:00 P.M.
