Defining “cutting edge” since her first work at New York’s Judson Dance Theater 40 years ago, Trisha Brown’s intellectual and creative experimentation has brought her international recognition as a leader in abstract choreography. A MacArthur Genius Fellow, her company is regularly seen in landmark opera houses and theaters around the world. With a repertory ranging from solos to major evening-length works, Brown has worked with many renowned visual artists. In celebration of the Company’s 40th Anniversary, Great Performances is honored to present Pygmalion, a story of love and magic based on Jean Philippe Rameau’s opera (1748) as originally told in Ovid’s Metamorphosis.
